winter skin care for ageing skin

Winter can be really harsh on ageing skin. This type of skin already lacks the necessary moisture propelling the breakdown of elastin & collagen, the essential connective tissue proteins that maintain skin elasticity & pliability. Fine lines & wrinkles, uneven skin tone, rough skin texture are some of the first signs depicting lack of these vital extracellular structural proteins in skin. The cold winter air & lack of humidity makes the dryness of ageing skin even more acute as it cannot retain moisture. Appearance of dry patches & flaky skin are the dreaded problems of ageing skin during winter.

"Moisturizing" is the key to protect the skin in winter but “24x7 hydration” is not a very easy thing to achieve particularly when it comes to ageing skin. Milk cream (malai), vegetable oils (coconut oil, mustard oil, almond oil) can give you some relief but none of these alone can maintain the required skin hydration for more than 1-2 hours in ageing skin.  So, what is the solution? The solution is to adopt a proper skin care regimen with proper products that will nourish the ageing skin & help to boost the natural collagen & elastin synthesis process of the skin so that the skin not only can avoid the harsh effects of the winter coldness but also looks rejuvenated.

Cleansing-Toning-Moisturizing is still the key

When it comes to winter care for ageing skin, the first & foremost thing to highlight is the daily CTM routine. Cleansing, Toning & moisturizing are vital to keep your skin in the best condition even during winter. However, for ageing skin, maximum care needs to be taken while picking the products & also the process of use. Check out the perfect CTM routine for ageing skin in winter,

Cleansing

cleansing is important

Instead of using a face wash twice daily switch to the Keya Seth Cleansing milk for daily cleansing. This essential oils & Aloe Vera enriched cleansing milk will remove dirt & pollution from your skin, without reaping off the necessary moisture. It will also nourish & hydrate your skin with its natural formula. Use the Fresh Look Lotus face wash after using the cleansing milk (for deep cleansing) only for removing makeup completely.

After cleansing & toning follow with moisturizing. While buying your moisturizer look for products that come with ingredients like Hyaluronic acid & niacinamide along with other age-restricting & nourishing components.  STOPAGE V can be an ideal moisturizer for ageing skin during winter as it contains age-reversal complex along with essential oils of Lavender, Clary sage & Frankincense that keep the skin hydrated & protect from the effects of winter. However, keep in mind that you should not use STOPAGE V before going out into the sun.

Exfoliation is important

exfoliation

Just like cleansing, toning & moisturizing, exfoliating the skin is also important in order to ensure that the treatments applied on the skin are properly absorbed. Use the skin eraser liquid scrubber orange to exfoliate your face & body 1-2 times in a week. You can also prepare a scrubber at home by mixing oatmeal & milk powder with rosewater.

Sun protection is vital

When it comes to winter care for ageing skin, sun protection is really important. The cold winter wind might not let you feel the scorching effect of the sunrays, but that does not mean the UV rays are not harming your skin. Damage from harmful sunrays is one of the primary reasons of skin ageing. Use Umbrella SPF60 Sunscreen solution every time you step out of home during day time.

Care for drying body skin

moisturize after bath

To heal the dry skin of your body switch your regular bathing soap for the Aromatic Spa Conditioning Body Wash. Scrub your body 1-2 times a week with the skin eraser liquid scrubber orange to get rid of the dead skin cells. After bathing apply the Soft & Smooth Fairness Body Moist on damp skin. Wait till the moisturizer is fully absorbed, before putting on clothes.
